The Themistocles and Dimitris Tsatsos Foundation – Centre for European Constitutional Law, in collaboration with the Dimitris Tsatsos Institute for European Constitutional Sciences at Hagen University,Germany (Dimitris Tsatsos Institut für Europäische Verfassungswissenschaften), is pleased to host an International Academic Conference on New Threats to Democracy Today. The event will take place on Wednesday, April 2,at 16:00, at the Goethe-Institut Auditorium (14-16 Omirou St., Athens).
The discussion panel will feature Professors Achilleus K. Emilianides, Evangelos Venizelos, Iphigenia Kamtsidou, Peter Schiffauer, and Linos-Alexandros Sicilianos, with Alkmini Fotiadou serving as moderator.
As part of the proceedings, the Dimitris Tsatsos Prize will be conferred upon Professor Renata Uitz, a leading scholar in ComparativeConstitutional Law at Central European University. Professor Uitz will deliver a keynote address On Constitutional Resilience in Illiberal Times: Metaphor, Concept, Practices. The award ceremony will open with welcoming remarks by Andreas Haratsch, followed by a formal commendation by Dimitris Charalambis.
Established in 2012 by the Centre for European Constitutional Law and the Dimitris-Tsatsos-Institut für Europäische Verfassungswissenschaften, the Dimitris Tsatsos Prize recognizes individuals of exceptional distinction for their contributions to European Constitutional Studies. Previous laureates include Vassilios Skouris, Íñigo Méndez de Vigo y Montojo, Giorgio Napolitano, and Wolfgang Reinhard.
